From page one, Emmett has already been recruited and is quickly boarding Genesis 11 and meeting his crewmates. There was hardly any pre-amble about Emmett’s life in Detroit. The action kicks off from the very first page. When his father encourages him to be fierce and determined as in the quote above, I had everything crossed that he would do so without dismissing good heart and selflessness. He came across as cocky and perhaps a little short-tempered. Will Emmett choose to expose the corruption or continue to compete for a life that will ensure he and his family never want for anything again?Īt the start of the book, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Emmett and I didn’t have much faith in him sticking to the values of his good honest family. However, Babel aren’t being entirely truthful about the nature of the operation and the ship, Genesis 11 is full of secrets.

I hadn’t heard of it and there was no synopsis anywhere on the ARC, so I dived into it knowing almost nothing other than that it already had a huge amount of rave reviews. On receiving this beautiful ARC decorated in numerous five star reviews, I was certainly incredibly inspired to pick it up.
